Ep. 22 – Matt Mayberry Pt. 2 – Former NFL Linebacker, Entrepreneur, Author, Speaker

Matt Mayberry –  Former NFL Linebacker, Entrepreneur, Author & Speaker; Power of Goals; Personal Growth; Routines Breed Champions; How to Destroy Fear

Segment 1: (Length :08:00) – General Updates; Re-Introduce Matt Mayberry from previous podcast episode 21; Background update; Power of Goals.

Matt’s methodologies to setting goals:

  1. Set a stop watch for 2 to 3 minutes. This will force you to put down what’s in your heart to happen within the next year.
  2. Write down 8 to 10 goals that you want to come true next year within these 2 to 3 minutes. At this time next year, what will you want to see take place and don’t worry about all the obstacles or the things you’ll run into.
  3. Pick only 1 of those goals. This is what we call “The Game Changing” goal. That is, if you achieve this goal within this next year, it’s going to radically change every other goal on that list, and your personal and professional goals.
  4. The key is to know your “Game Changing” goal because it will act like a domino affect for all other goals on that list.
  5. Write down 20 to 50 things that you have to do in order to make that game changing goal a reality. Write down everything you can think of.
  6. Start inserting those action items into your daily to do list. This will create a high priority, high reward action list; energy and time as well.

Segment 2: (Length :12:00) – Talking with Matt Mayberry; Dealing with personal growth and having a plan.

Examples of Matt’s personal growth plan:

  1. Think about how you come into your day (Examples: 15 minutes of meditation, spiritual readings, gratitude journaling, etc)
  2. Working out
  3. Listen to audio books or read to feed the mind
  4. Focus on taking massive action to achieve the previously discussed goals and don’t worry about the bumps along the way.
  5. Know your why.

Segment 3: (Length :20:00) – Routines breed champions; How to destroy fear.

How can people establish better routines:

  1. Schedule it out. What gets scheduled gets done.
  2. Don’t only make a list of what you have to do on a daily basis, but schedule that in to your calendar (Google or iCal, etc.)
  3. Be very particular how you spend your time.
  4. Make sure it empowers you

How to destroy fear:

  1. Start with rewiring your brain – Get serious about your thought life. Develop mantras and affirmations that will build you up. Read uplifting books. Listen to audio books while traveling. Constantly find ways to invest in your mind and thought life.
  2. Have a well-thought out plan – How do I want to start, where do I want to go, how am I going to drive it home and how am I going to finish. No matter what, take massive action.
  3. Do one thing everyday that scares you – Find one thing and get out of your comfort zone. Find that one thing that scares you and do that every single day. You’ll notice your self-confidence go up and your fear go down.

Segment 4: (Length :03:00) – Hustler Thought of the Day:
