Jason Shurgot – Entrepreneur & Millennial Leadership Coach; Building a Brand with Social Media & Engagement; Be Authentic; Setting Yourself Apart.
Segment 1: (Length :04:00) – General Updates; Introduction to Jason Shurgot and his journey as an entrepreneur thus far; High level overview of using social media (4 key things); point of growing a social following.
Jason’s finer points:
“There are so many people out there just ‘arm chairing’ and dreaming, but I’m actually doing.”
“What I love about the prsuit brand and the hdfmagazine brand is your content is killer.”
“The question I get asked is, ‘how do you build a following?'”
These Four Things Can Be Applied Across All Platforms:
- Buy the big account and take it over.
- Purchase advertising: a.) Buy promotions from established brands within your niche, or 2.) Use the social media platform itself whether that is through the Facebook manager or Instagram manager, etc.
- Cross Promote with like brands – Connecting with like brands (shout for shout). I’m going to post some of your content and you’re going to post some of mine.
- Post engaging content daily.
“It’s about helping people. To build a brand you have to have quality engaging content, you have to know what you’re talking about and you have to be willing to give.”
“For me, I started in order to help the world. I knew I needed to motivate myself. I knew if I had built followers, then some other people would vibe with that and would follow.”
“I also knew that long term there were threshold I had to get through and then it would actually open up doors for the personal brand, Jason Shurgot.”
“No one wants to talk to Jason Shurgot if no one knows me. I have crazy experience in IT and stuff like that, but that’s not cool and hip, right? But, once you start having all these followers and all the experiences behind it, then you start getting on all these podcasts.”
“You start leveraging those followers to get attention and open doors. So people that you wanted to approach before where the door was locked, now with the following you can say, ‘Oh, I’ve learned all these social media skills. Here’s all the people that are following and then you can teach and leverage that to others and then you can really start talking about other things you’re doing.”
“Building your followers is just the first step.”
“However, I want to talk about the most important – the engaged following – that’s why I love reading prsuit’s content and hdfmagazine’s. These are like mini blog posts. If you’re not checking these out, you really need to be.”
“The more connected you can make the following to your brand, that’s how you really transform them from followers to dollars; when they’re really connected; when they feel really connected to you.”
“You’ve earned that loyalty and you start making positive strides in the bank.”
Segment 2: (Length :04:00) – Talking with Jason Shurgot; Transitioning to bringing in his personal brand; Setting yourself a part in saturated markets.
Jason’s finer points:
“When I build a personal brand, it’s all about getting those quality followers, not the quantity. What’s beautiful about having a large following is that you can reach out to them.”
“The defining moment for me was that I wasn’t unique, meaning that I wasn’t really motivating and helping people the way I wanted to.”
“I had the need to help people. Under the Jason Shurgot brand, they can see the person behind the name; they can see I’m genuine and what I do in my personal life.”
“I use @millionairenotes is to bring in people who really want to go to the next steps. I use it like a sales funnel in the fact that out of the 175K, I can convert some of them over to the Jason Shurgot brand and I can see that those people are really involved.”
“For me, it’s about getting closer and closer to my customers; to the people I’m trying to help. By doing that, I give a face to me.”
“I give people a bullshit test. We all see this stuff, ‘I made $7k flipping a home.’ Well, ask those people a basic question. If you’re looking for a mentor, ask them if they’ve done it. . . Always ask for references. Talk to some of their previous customers.”
“How do I separate myself apart. Well, I’m really focused right now on branding. If you go to my website, you’ll see it’s really consistent. Anything direct piece or freebie I make is all branded.”
“To be unique, it’s about being authentic.”
“I’m more of a workshop type of guy. I’m analytical. I can break down how things happen. If you’re stuck in your business and you’re trying to figure out where you should spend your limited resources, then I can help you do that. When building your own brand, focus on your strengths.”
“Learn from others how they did it, but then build your own image. If you’re always being true to yourself, then a.) you love what you’re doing, b.) you’re never lying, and c.) you’re going to connect with the people that are right for you.”
Segment 3: (Length :04:00) – Millennial business and leadership consulting;
Jason’s finer points:
“I leverage my social media experience, my corporate experience and being a Millennial to get into organizations to teach them about cultivating the Millennial mindset. Because I have the entrepreneur and corporate experience, and understand how the Millennial minds think, I’m able to talk to corporations on whether or not their organization is set up for Millennials.“
“By 2025, 70 to 75% of the workforce will be Millennials. A lot of generations are not happy with us, but we’re here to stay.”
“On one to one coaching with Millennials, I always try to explain that it’s not going to happen over night.”
“Look for incremental progress, not overnight success.”
“Building a brand is all about you. It’s about you taking the steps you need to do every single day and not getting discouraged and getting back up on the horse.”
“Social Media helps you build your brand because you can reach people that you never thought possible. You are always connecting and growing your network.”
“Use social media to connect with not only your customers, but with people who become partners; who can help you expand your brand.”
Segment 4: (Length :03:00) – Hustler Thought of the Day:
“It’s you against you every day. Make sure the right you wins.“
